Here’s Ori!

Hey, hey, Ori!

Hey, hey, Ori!

These Sock Monsters are coming thick and fast!  This guy is called Ori, he’s a very simple pattern I made myself.  He’s a combination of Otis and Hoth, but he only needs one sock to make.  I didn’t give him a neck, so he’s got the ‘hunched up’ look of Ronan without being as tall as him.  In fact, being short and stocky makes him look a little like Mer-Man, the amphibian bad guy in the Masters of the Universe cartoon series.  The stripes from my socks look a little like toe nails on the end of his feet… well, I think they do…

Bath Time

Get clean!

Get clean!

I tried to convince Hoth and Otis to take a bath but they weren’t sure that they wanted to go for a spin.  They said something about being ‘hand wash only’ and ran off.  If they don’t like this then they definitely won’t like being pegged out on the washing line…

Episode VI : Return of the Button-eyed

Otis

Otis

What a difference a bit of fluff can make!  Otis is the newest member of my sock monster family.  His ears are a bit cat-like and his orange eyes do give him a feline expression.  He has long thin legs and a tail too, which isn’t all that clear in the photo.  It was much easier stitching this guy together and it still surprises me how much character these monsters develop as you turn out their paws and feet and shape their pouting mouths.  The bow tie was really an afterthought to cover a lumpy bit of stitching on his neck, but now I think it really suits him.  The ribbon was originally used to fasten up a bag of buttons but the bag split and it seemed a shame not to make use of the spare material.
